Kota: Online applications are underway for the country’s largest engineering entrance exam, the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Main 2026). Online applications began on October 31st. The deadline is November 27th. The National Testing Agency has already warned that there will be no extension in the online application deadlines this time, but the registration pace is very slow.
Pankaj Khandelwal, who runs an online exam form application center in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kota, says that as of 2:00 pm on Saturday, 10.60 lakh candidates had applied online for the JEE Main. Last year, there were significantly more online applications. Now, the final five days remain for JEE Main registration. It seems difficult to reach the same number of applications as last year in these remaining days. This year, the pace of online applications is slow. Education expert Dev Sharma explained that the National Testing Agency did not extend the online application deadlines for both JEE Main and NEET UG exams in 2025. Therefore, candidates should apply within the deadline this year as well. Last-minute applications can lead to errors. Furthermore, there could be issues with the online server and fee deposits, which could prevent them from taking the exam.
So, don’t let the application numbers fall: Dev Sharma explained that last year, 15.39 lakh candidates applied for the exam, but this time, the number is currently 10.60 lakh. In such a scenario, only if more than 1 lakh applications are received daily in the next five days will last year’s figure be surpassed. Therefore, this year’s application numbers may be lower, as the current application trends suggest. Because last year’s application numbers were low, most applications are filed in the interim. Sharma explained that in 2025, the number of candidates who took the exam was 1.475 million. This was the highest number of applicants and candidates taking the exam in the history of this exam. Online application corrections from December 1st to 2nd: Pankaj Khandelwal stated that candidates will be able to apply online until 9:00 pm on November 27th. The fee must be paid until 11:50 pm on November 27th. Dev Sharma also stated that the National Testing Agency has already released the online correction dates for errors made during form filling. Accordingly, candidates can make online corrections between December 1st and 2nd. These online corrections will also be accepted until 11:50 pm on December 2nd.
