New Delhi: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani visited the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple on Sunday and provided financial support for the proposed Devaswom Multi-Specialty Hospital. The Guruvayur Devaswom shared information and photos related to Ambani’s visit on its official Facebook page. According to information shared by the Devaswom, Ambani arrived in Guruvayur by helicopter at around 7:30 a.m., landing at the Sri Krishna College grounds. He then traveled by road to the southern gate of the temple, where he was welcomed by Dr. V.K. Vijayan, Chairman of the Devaswom Board, and other members. Since it was a public holiday and special darshan restrictions were in place, Ambani entered the temple using Neyvilakku Vazhipadu coupons arranged for 25 members. At the temple, he prayed in the sanctum sanctorum, made offerings on the temple steps (Soppanapadi), and received prasad from the chief priest. After the puja, Dr. Vijayan presented Ambani with temple prasad and a commemorative portrait of Lord Guruvayoorappan. Devaswom officials then briefed Ambani on the proposed multi-specialty hospital and the planned modern veterinary hospital for the temple elephants. Ambani assured full support for both projects and handed over a cheque for ₹15 crore as the first installment for the hospital construction.
According to the Devaswom, Ambani also offered technical assistance to improve the care and management of the temple elephants, modeled after Reliance’s wildlife conservation centre in Gujarat. After completing the temple visit, Ambani left Guruvayoor at around 8 am.
