Jaisalmer: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Jaisalmer on Thursday evening on a two-day visit to Jaisalmer. He was received by senior officers of the Army and Air Force on his arrival at the Air Force station. During this, Jaisalmer District Collector Pratap Singh, SP Abhishek Shivhare, Barmer-Jaisalmer MP Umedaram Beniwal, MLA Chhotu Singh Bhati and many BJP functionaries were present. From the air force station, Rajnath Singh left for the army station, where he inaugurated the ‘Shourya Park’ and ‘Cactus Park’.
Darshan of Tanot Mata and tributes at Longewala: According to the schedule issued by the army, at 8:40 am on Friday, the Defence Minister will go to Tanot by helicopter, where he will offer special prayers to Tanot Mata. After this, he will go to the Longewala battlefield to pay tribute to the martyrs and communicate with the soldiers. They will also see the demonstration of the army’s operational preparedness themselves.
Army Commanders Conference: The Defence Minister will then attend the Army Commanders Conference to be held in Jaisalmer. This time the theme of the conference is “Year of Reforms”. Senior military officials at the meeting will have in-depth discussions on topics such as military modernization, technological reform, and synergy between the three services. The main objective of this conference is to prepare the Indian Army in line with modern, technological and future challenges.
A big decision on the Agniveer scheme is possible: According to the information received from the army, the Agniveer scheme will also be reviewed in this meeting. Currently, 25% of firefighters are made permanent after four years of service under the scheme, which is proposed to be increased to 75%. Next year, the first batch of firefighters will complete four years of service, so this meeting is considered crucial for their future.
Discussion on mission ‘Sudarshan Chakra’: The use of ex-servicemen’s expertise will also be considered in the conference. Now the government is planning to include them in strategic and administrative roles, not just limited to welfare functions. The status of the mission ‘Sudarshan Chakra’, ammunition supply, and military equipment will also be reviewed. There will also be a special focus on strengthening coordination between the Army, Navy and Air Force. Topics such as joint training, standardization of equipment, logistics and improvement in supply chain will be prominent. This is being seen as an important step towards the establishment of theatre commands in the future.
