Motihari: While the contest for seats in the Mahagathbandhan for the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 is still going on, on the other hand, one wicket has fallen before the voting. The opposition alliance has suffered a major setback in the Sugauli seat of East Champaran district. The nomination of the joint candidate of the alliance has been rejected.
One wicket of the Mahagathbandhan fell: The Sugauli Assembly seat came under the quota of the Vikas Insaan Party under seat sharing in the Mahagathbandhan. From where Mukesh Sahni had made Shashi Bhushan Singh a candidate but during the examination of the nomination papers, an error was found in his pamphlet. Due to which the nomination has been cancelled. In this way, the Mahagathbandhan has lost the Sugauli seat without a fight. Why was the nomination cancelled?: Shashi Bhushan Singh is the current MLA of RJD but this time VIP has made him a candidate after Tejashwi Yadav’s consent. Since the Vikassheel Insaan Party is not currently a registered party, they had to take 10 proposers with them, but they had gone with only one proposer, thinking that they were the RJD candidate like in 2020. In such a situation, the nomination has been rejected in view of the low number of proposers after investigation.

Nominations of 5 candidates rejected: Nominations of a total of 5 candidates, including Shashi Bhushan Singh, have been rejected. These include Aam Aadmi Party’s Gayasuddin Sanni, his Janata Party’s Sadre Alam and two independents Krishna Mohan Jha and Om Prakash Chaudhary. The affidavits of these four were found to be incomplete, while Shashi Bhushan Singh had taken only one proposer instead of 10 proposers. NDA’s victory in Sugauli decided: After the cancellation of Shashi Bhushan Singh’s nomination, it is now being considered a victory for the NDA. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has fielded Rajesh Kumar alias Bablu Gupta for this seat. At the same time, Ajay Kumar Jha from Jan Suraj Party is in the field. Apart from this, most of the candidates are independents or small parties. In such a situation, the contest will now be between NDA and Jan Suraj.
Madhaura’s account is equal: Earlier, in the first phase, the nomination of the NDA candidate in the Madhaura Assembly constituency of Saran district was rejected. With the cancellation of LJPR’s Seema Singh’s nomination, the fight has become easier for RJD’s Jitendra Rai. Thus, the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan have already lost one seat each for the 243-member assembly before the voting.
