Bengaluru: A student of a private engineering college was allegedly raped by a student of the same college in the men’s toilet of the campus. Police have arrested the accused in the case.
The accused, Jeevan Gowda (21), has been arrested on charges of rape, police said. The incident took place on October 10 and the victim filed a case on October 15. According to the police, the victim knew the student. The accused was produced in the court, from where he has been sent to judicial custody.
What is in the complaint: According to the police, the victim has said in her complaint that she had gone to class at 8.55 am on October 10.
The victim alleged that they met during lunch break and asked her to meet near the down stairs. Later from there, he took her to the 7th floor of the college and tried to forcefully kiss her. When she then ran away to the 6th floor, he forcibly dragged her into the men’s toilet, closed the door and raped her.
The victim said that after the incident, she told her friends about it, who encouraged her to inform her parents.
Despite initial hesitation and fear, she told her parents about her ordeal, after which a complaint was lodged at the Hanumantnagar police station on October 15. A case has been registered under Section 64 (rape) of the Indian Justice Code, police said.
