Chennai: Recently, in Karur, Tamil Nadu, an accident occurred in which people following TVK party leader Vijay’s campaign vehicle on a two-wheeler fell. A case has been filed against the campaign vehicle driver at the Velayudhampalayam police station. TVK party leader Vijay had organized a public rally in Karur on Saturday, September 27th.
While traveling from Namakkal to Karur, Vijay was welcomed in the Thavitthapalayam area on the district border. Meanwhile, as Vijay’s vehicle was moving forward, two vehicles carrying party workers on two-wheelers collided with each other, causing the workers to fall. The video went viral on social media. This led to a stampede during Vijay’s Karur campaign.
Investigation underway
A one-member commission is investigating this tragic incident. Meanwhile, several cases have been filed in connection with the incident. In this connection, a case was filed in the Madras High Court seeking the formulation of guidelines for political party campaigning. While hearing the case, the court expressed strong displeasure with the TVK party.
High Court raises questions
Furthermore, the judge questioned the fact that Vijay’s campaign vehicle collided with a two-wheeler near Thavitpalayam, causing the accident. The judge then questioned whether a case should have been filed against Vijay’s campaign vehicle, which caused the accident, and the vehicle should have been confiscated.
Case filed against two people
Following the High Court judge’s question, a case has been filed against Vijay’s campaign vehicle driver and two other two-wheeler drivers under Section 218 of the BNS Act at the Velayudhampalayam police station in Karur. Based on this case, it appears that the police will soon seize TVK leader Vijay’s campaign vehicle.
