New Delhi: Political heavyweight Jagdeep Dhankhar, who has been out of the public eye since resigning as Vice President of India several weeks ago, has left VP Enclave in central Delhi. PTI quoted unnamed officials as saying that he has shifted to a private farmhouse in Delhi.
A report quoted sources close to him as saying that Dhankhar has been spending time with his family, playing table tennis and practicing yoga since resigning midway through his tenure citing health reasons. Meanwhile, a video surfaced on Monday, in which Dhankhar’s convoy is seen leaving VP Enclave
Chautala farmhouse an interim arrangement
An official told PTI that interim arrangements have been made for him to stay at the Chautala farmhouse. He will stay here till he is allotted Type-VIII official residence, which he is entitled to as a former Vice President.
Rahul’s ‘missing’ jibe
Reports said that Dhankhar’s resignation on July 21, the first day of the monsoon session, was due to his accepting the opposition-sponsored motion to remove him over the issue of cash found at Justice Yashwant Verma’s house. However, his behaviour in Delhi and his interactions with MPs, especially from the Congress, AAP and other opposition parties, are being blamed for this.
Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of his disappearance during the election campaign for his successor. Gandhi claimed that there is a big story behind this. At the same time, Home Minister Amit Shah told ANI that Dhankhar’s health reasons should be respected and there is no need to make much of it.” Who will be Jagdeep Dhankhar’s successor? Let us tell you that the election of the next Vice President, in which all MPs will vote, is to be held on September 9. The contest is between CP Radhakrishnan of the ruling BJP-led NDA and B Sudarshan Reddy of the Congress-led India Block. It is worth noting that Dhankhar’s term as Vice President was to end on August 10, 2027. The next Vice President will get a full five-year term, not just the remaining term. The NDA has a majority, but the India Block has demonstrated its strength and unity with the candidature of former judge Reddy.
