The Dehradun District Administration has stepped forward to assist Manish Sharma, a resident of Brahmapuri, who saved the lives of four children from a high-tension power line without regard for his own safety. As a result of severe burns sustained during this accident—which occurred a year ago—both of Manish’s hands had to be amputated. Following his permanent disability, his family (comprising his wife and two children) faced a grave crisis regarding their livelihood.
In this dire situation, Manish approached the office of District Magistrate Savin Bansal to appeal for assistance. Taking immediate cognizance of this sensitive matter, the DM sanctioned financial aid of ₹50,000 from the Rifle Club Fund to enable Manish to start a self-employment venture. Furthermore, the DM has also given an assurance to assume full responsibility for the education of Manish’s son.
The District Magistrate has issued clear directives to officials to immediately integrate Manish’s family into various public welfare schemes of the government. DM Savin Bansal stated that those who set an example of courage and humanity within society certainly deserve to receive support. The affected family and local residents have expressed their gratitude for this humanitarian initiative undertaken by the administration.
