Uttarakhand: The series of heavy rains will continue in Uttarakhand even today. The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rains for nine districts including Dehradun. Whereas, an orange alert for heavy rains has been issued in other districts as well.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, a red alert for heavy to very heavy rains has been issued in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts including Dehradun. There is a possibility of very heavy to very heavy rains in these districts. Apart from these, an orange alert for heavy rains has been issued in other districts as well.
While giving instructions to the people, meteorologists have said that due to heavy to very heavy rains in these places, waterlogging, landslides can occur along with the water level of rivers and streams. In such a situation, be more cautious during the day as well as night and avoid going near rivers and streams. Apart from this, avoid traveling in mountainous areas if not necessary.
Haridwar – Ganga water level reached near warning line
The Ganga swelled due to heavy rains in the mountains and plains. The water level of Ganga started rising due to the rains that started early Friday morning, which increased to 292.90 at 11 am, near the warning line of 293 meters. The administration evacuated the Ganga ghats. People living on the banks of Ganga were also alerted. Flood relief posts and the administration of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are on alert. The water level is being monitored every moment.
