Dehradun: Irrigation Minister Satpal Maharaj said that flood control rooms have been set up in the nodal block of every district of the state from 15 June to 15 October. He held a meeting of the Irrigation Department in his camp office. He said that 304 sensitive places have been marked in the state in terms of flood and waterlogging.
The Irrigation Minister said, in view of the monsoon season, the Irrigation Department has made all the arrangements. A central flood control room has been set up in the premises of the Irrigation Block, Dehradun, its telephone number is- 9411554658. At the same time, the Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Works Board, Dehradun has been nominated as the state level departmental nodal officer, his telephone number is- 9837173920. The minister said that a WhatsApp group has also been created for the exchange of flood related information.
It includes state, district level officers. All officers are available on mobile. All the executive engineers are providing information related to rainfall and water level in rivers to the Central Flood Control Center every day during monsoon.
According to the Irrigation Minister, 113 flood posts have been established in the state with the help of the administration. Sirens have been installed on all barrages and reservoirs to inform the people located in the direction of flow of barrages and reservoirs during any possible incident. Many departmental officers including Chief Engineer of Irrigation Department Subhash Kumar Pandey were present in the meeting.
