New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Japan and China from August 29 to September 1. The Ministry of External Affairs said that Prime Minister Modi will be on a visit to Japan from August 29 to 30 to attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
This will be Prime Minister Modi’s eighth visit to Japan and the first summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba. In this regard, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “This visit will reaffirm the long-term special bond of friendship between the two countries.
Discussion on issues of regional and global importance
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “During the visit, the Prime Ministers of the two countries will review the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan, which includes defense and security, trade and economy, technology and innovation and mutual exchange between people. Along with this, they will also discuss issues of regional and global importance.”
PM Modi will attend SCO Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach China from Japan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held in Tianjin, China from August 31 to September 1. Leaders from more than 20 countries will participate in this event to be held on August 31.
PM will visit China
The ministry said, “In the second phase of his visit, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Prime Minister will visit China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin from 31 August to 1 September 2025.” It further said, “Apart from the summit, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several leaders participating in the SCO.”

After this meeting, he said, “I am looking forward to our upcoming summit in Tianjin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. I look forward to our next meeting. Stable, predictable and constructive relations between India and China will make an important contribution to regional and global peace and prosperity.”
