The second meeting of the State Road Safety Fund Management Committee was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, presided over by Chief Secretary Mr. Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, various proposals related to the Road Safety Fund were approved.
The Chief Secretary issued directives to formulate an integrated action plan for ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras, taking into account the requirements of the Transport, Police, State Tax, and Mining departments within the state. Additionally, he instructed the Transport and Police departments to submit monthly reports regarding the traffic fines (challans) issued by them to the Office of the Chief Secretary.
Key Highlights of the Meeting:
โข Integrated Action Plan: A combined plan regarding ANPR cameras will be developed for the entire state, to which all concerned departments will have access.
โข Budgetary Provision: Routine tasks, such as the installation of road furniture and signage, will be undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) utilizing its own budgetary allocations. For essential works where departmental funds are unavailable, financial arrangements will be made through the Road Safety Fund.
โข Formation of a Sub-committee: To prevent duplication among proposals and to ensure their proper verification, a sub-committee will conduct a thorough scrutiny of the proposals before they are presented to the main committee.
Several senior officials attended the meeting, including Principal Secretary (Justice) Mr. Pradeep Pant, Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, and Mr. Brajesh Kumar Sant.
