Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made several significant announcements at the ‘Himalayo Naam Nagadhiraj’ event held at the Uttarakhand Technical University in Dehradun:
• Key Announcements: He announced a grant of ₹1 crore to expand facilities at the Himalaya Council and the institution of an annual ‘Himalaya Vibhuti Samman’ (Himalaya Excellence Award) for researchers and social activists engaged in conservation efforts.
• Unveiling: He unveiled the annual issue of the ‘Vigyan Sampreshan’ (Science Communication) magazine, along with five posters, including those for the 7th Dehradun International Science Festival and the Seemant Bal Vigyan Congress (Frontier Children’s Science Congress).
• Ecology and Economy: The CM emphasized that Uttarakhand’s development would be based on a balance between the environment and the economy, ensuring that the carrying capacity of the mountains is taken into account alongside tourism and infrastructure development.
• Public Participation: He appealed for transforming the week spanning September 2 (Bugyal Diwas/Alpine Meadow Day) to September 9 (Himalaya Diwas) into a mass movement and urged for the conservation of natural resources under ‘Mission LiFE’.
