Srinagar: The Crime Branch of the police has filed a case against five members of a non-governmental organization (NGO) for allegedly issuing fake appointment orders to the National Health Mission (NHM) in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
Case filed against five individuals
The National Health Mission (NHM) had written to the Crime Branch alleging the circulation of fake appointment orders allegedly issued by the NHM Director.
Fake Order Titled Provisional Selection List of Candidates
The officer further stated, “This fake order titled “Provisional Selection List of Candidates for Various Posts (Kashmir Division)” under Notification No. SHS/NHM/J&K/HR/10259 dated 10.05.2021 was found to be forged and was being circulated through social media platforms, causing confusion among the public.”
Identification of the Accused
The accused have been identified as Abdul Qayum Naik, Abdul Qayum Khan, Mohammad Ashraf Hurra, Mushtaq Ahmed Sofi, and Hilal Ahmed Bahar. According to the officer, the investigation revealed that an NGO called Jammu and Kashmir Health Care Services, which was approved by the Health Department to provide volunteer manpower during the COVID-19 pandemic, was behind the scam.
NGO Members Fraudulently Contacted Volunteers
The Crime Branch further stated, “Management members of the NGO They took undue advantage of this approval as part of a well-planned conspiracy. They fraudulently contacted volunteers, obtained their documents on the pretext of securing permanent appointments under the NHM, and extorted money from them.”
They prepared a fake selection list by forging the signature of the Mission Director of NHM Jammu and Kashmir. Their actions prima facie disclose the commission of offences punishable under sections 420, 468, 471, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and section 66-D of the Information Technology Act.
