Haldwani: After the notification was issued in Uttarakhand, the process of Panchayat elections is going on. Some candidates are adopting all kinds of tactics to win the Panchayat elections. The Election Department has formed different teams to stop money power and liquor in the elections. To stop liquor in the Panchayat elections, the Excise Department has assigned the responsibility to the District Excise Officer (DEO) in all the districts of the state. Under whose leadership a campaign is being run against liquor.
Special Task Force Team has been formed in all the districts by the Uttarakhand Excise Department. The team is continuously taking action against illegal liquor. Joint Excise Commissioner, Kumaon Division KK Kandpal said that on the instructions of the government, special teams have been set up to stop liquor storage and liquor supply in the Panchayat elections. District Excise Officers have been made nodal officers.
90 Excise Constables Appointed: Joint Excise Commissioner said that 90 newly appointed Excise Constables recruited in the Excise Department have been included in the team. Apart from the state borders, the team is also taking action against illegal liquor coming from outside. Apart from this, the enforcement team of the Excise Department is also continuously taking action against liquor.
No big case has come to the fore: The officer says that after the Panchayat election code of conduct was imposed, there has been no seizure of liquor in large quantities from anywhere. But major action has been taken against the raw liquor made in rural areas. He said that wherever there is a complaint of distribution or supply of liquor during the Panchayat elections, the department is reaching there and taking action.
Action on 30 cases: If we talk about Nainital district, then after the code of conduct was imposed, a total of 30 cases of liquor have come to the fore in front of the District Excise Department. Where 120 bottles of Desi, while 496 liters of raw liquor, 17,000 liters of lahan have been recovered.
