Heavy rain is expected in most districts of Uttarakhand today. The Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for very heavy to very heavy rainfall in some places in Uttarkashi, Tehri and Rudraprayag districts including Dehradun. On the other hand, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in some places in Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. There are also chances of lightning and heavy rain in some other districts.
Holiday in schools of Tehri district
There will be a holiday in the schools of Tehri district on Tuesday. In view of the forecast of the Meteorological Department, orders have been issued for a one-day holiday in all government, non-government/private schools (all educational institutions running from class 1 to 12) and all Anganwadi centers of the district.
121 roads including one national and ten state highways closed, 28 opened
After the rain in the state, debris has come on the roads at many places. Due to this, 121 roads including one national and ten state highways were closed on Monday. Out of these, 28 roads have been opened for vehicular movement.
According to the State Emergency Operations Center, debris had fallen near Damta on the Vikasnagar-Badkot National Highway. Apart from this, one state highway in Chamoli, two in Dehradun, three in Pauri and four in Tehri were closed due to debris. Due to debris, vehicular movement was closed on 121 roads including 68 rural roads. By late evening, 28 of these roads have been opened. While 93 roads are still closed. This includes two roads of Almora district, seven of Bageshwar, 14 of Chamoli, eight of Dehradun, three of Nainital, 20 of Pauri, 11 of Pithoragarh, seven of Rudraprayag, eight of Tehri and 13 roads of Uttarkashi district.
