There is an atmosphere of panic in the village due to three leopards being seen resting on the rocks near the road in Amkattal Tok near Thangar village. The villagers have demanded from the forest department to increase patrolling in the area and to install cages to catch the leopards.
The incident took place at 3 pm on Tuesday. The villagers had gone to the fields near the village to graze the cows. As soon as the villagers saw the leopard, they took the animals to safe places. During this time a vehicle was passing by. The passengers who got down from the vehicle chased the leopard away by throwing stones and making noise. All three leopards got up and ran towards the forest. Villager Kuldeep Negi said that it was a good thing that the leopard did not attack the cattle of the villagers.
The villagers said that due to the leopard roaming around the village, people are worried about the children going to and coming from school. Despite complaining, the forest department is not taking any action to catch the leopard. The leopard has already killed many cattle of the villagers.
