Rudrapur: District police has arrested three drug smugglers from two different police station areas. 121.56 grams of smack has been recovered from the accused. One of the arrested smugglers is the ‘most wanted’ smuggler of Lohaghat police station of Champawat district. Three cases have been registered against him under the NDPS Act in the past. The international price of the recovered smack is estimated to be Rs 16 lakh.
Police has arrested three drug smugglers from two different police station areas. 121.56 grams of smack worth 16 lakhs has been recovered from the accused. According to the police, in compliance with the model code of conduct implemented in view of the Panchayat elections, a joint team of Police Station Pulbhatta and ANTF/SOG conducted an intensive checking campaign near Rajput Dhaba located on Bareilly Road under Police Station Pulbhatta. During checking, two suspicious persons riding a black motorcycle were stopped and searched, from whose possession a total of 111.56 grams of smack was recovered.
During interrogation, the accused revealed their names as Viresh Kumar, resident of Bhagwanpur, Thana Binawar, District Badaun, Uttar Pradesh and Harnam resident of Bhagwanpur, Thana Binawar, District Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. The accused told that they had taken the smack from a person named Vijay, resident of village Noorpur in Badaun district. At the same time, the Nanakmatta police stopped a suspicious person Abhishek Oli near Machhi Jhala Dam in Pratappur outpost area, on searching him, 10 grams of smack and cash worth Rs 10700 were recovered from him. On digging into the criminal history, it was found that the accused is the ‘most wanted’ smuggler of Thana Lohaghat of Champawat district. Three cases have been registered against him under the NDPS Act in the past. A case has been registered against the accused.
