The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) is continuously working to promote cricket in Uttarakhand. For the last few years, the women’s cricket team of Uttarakhand has performed very well. At the same time, many male players from Uttarakhand have also left their mark on the national stage. Cricket also got a big boost here from the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL Season 1) held in 2024. (UPL Season 1) held in Dehradun from 15 September to 22 September 2024 last year had a successful start. After this, now the Uttarakhand Cricket Association has intensified preparations for Season 2 as well.
Uttarakhand Cricket Association Secretary Mahim Verma said that this time the domestic season of cricket will start from October. Before this, the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand will complete the UPL. He said that last season the association got very little time for preparation. This time we have enough time. He said that this time the Uttarakhand Premier League will be more grand than last year.
He told that this time the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand has started homework to make the Uttarakhand Premier League more attractive and popular. He said that the association is doing special work to add maximum entertainment to this UPL.
Mahim Verma said that this time we have enough time, so we are trying to increase the women’s team. The effort will be that 5 women’s teams and 7 men’s teams play in the UPL this time. Apart from this, to add entertainment to every match, entertainment performances will be held after the match. In which people from the entertainment world will be invited.
Mahim Verma said that last year more focus was given on opening and closing. This time a great program will be organized after every match. The local culture, food and costumes of Uttarakhand will also be included in it. He said that initial discussions have been held regarding the date of season two of UPL. Dates will not be announced yet.
Speaking about the improvements coming in UPL, Mahim Verma said that every year there is some improvement in the events. He said that like last time, this time also Uttarakhand Premier League will be organized in Dehradun by Cricket Association of Uttarakhand in association with SS Park Sports. Continuous meetings are being held in this regard. Apart from this, continuous exercises are also being done regarding the franchise.
