Haldwani: Buying police uniform from the market and making reels for likes and comments on social media has proved costly for the youth. Taking cognizance of the video going viral on social media, the police took legal action by detaining two youths. Also, the police released both of them after an apology.
Senior Superintendent of Police Nainital Prahlad Narayan Meena has said that all such videos going viral on social media are being constantly monitored and seriously cognized. Action is being taken against those who tarnish the image of the police or create confusion among the public by misusing the uniform. Recently, a video went viral on Instagram and YouTube, in which the youth were seen making videos wearing the uniform of the Inspector of Uttarakhand Police. After the video was circulated on various social media platforms, immediate cognizance was taken and Inspector-in-charge Rajesh Yadav, Kotwali Haldwani was instructed to take necessary action.
The two youths seen in the video were identified as Dinesh and Divyansh, residents of Haldwani Mukhani. Both the youths were summoned and questioned, in which they admitted that they had bought the uniform from the local market. The video of the youths was immediately removed from social media. Under the Uttarakhand Police Act, challan action was taken and the fine was deposited. Both the youths apologized and also gave a written assurance of not repeating such an act in future. Also, strict instructions were given to maintain the respect of the police uniform. The SSP said that the police uniform is a symbol of dignity, discipline and responsibility. Making fun of the uniform or its improper use is not only a violation of the law, but is an act that spreads confusion in the society. Such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
