Appealing to the ex-servicemen across the state, the Sainik Welfare Minister said that they should play an active role in the tree plantation campaign of Harela festival and play a leading role in environmental protection. In this regard, he held a meeting with the ex-servicemen on Sunday regarding Harela festival.
Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi said that this time on the occasion of Harela festival, more than two lakh saplings will be planted by ex-servicemen across the state. He said that this traditional festival of Uttarakhand has to be linked not only with cultural identity, but it has to be made a strong medium of greenery and environmental awareness. During this, Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi also called upon the people to ensure maximum participation in the programs organized under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan on the occasion of Harela festival on July 16.
He said that this campaign will become a symbol of social consciousness, environmental conservation and national service. The minister said that the service that the ex-servicemen have given to protect the nation, now with the same dedication they are coming forward to protect nature as well. He asked everyone to take a pledge to transform Harela festival into a green revolution.
State President of Sainik Cell Colonel (Retd) Raghuveer Singh Bhandari, Colonel (Retd) Ravindra Singh Rangda, PBRO President Shamsher Singh Bisht, Subedar Rakesh Prasad, Havildar Vikram Singh, Soban Singh Rawat, Jaspal, Raje Singh Rawat and many other ex-servicemen were present in the meeting.
