As part of the ‘Swachh Survekshan’ (Cleanliness Survey) campaign, the Dehradun District Administration and the Municipal Corporation conducted a special cleanliness drive in the city, resulting in the collection of 40 tonnes of waste. During the main event held at Parade Ground following the Dussehra festival, District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan, along with officials, municipal staff, and students from GGIC Rajpur, personally participated in collecting waste to promote the message of cleanliness.
Ten tonnes of waste were collected from Parade Ground alone, while another 30 tonnes were gathered from the Patel Nagar, Race Course, and Hindu National Inter College areas. The District Magistrate announced that this campaign would continue uninterrupted from Diwali until the State Foundation Day. He issued instructions to ensure that biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste are segregated and disposed of using scientific methods.
The District Magistrate also spoke of conducting cleanliness drives at other key locations, including along the Rispana River. He appealed to citizens to segregate wet and dry waste and to refrain from littering in public spaces.
