Under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign) conducted by the Dehradun district administration, 1,611 eligible elderly individuals were identified and linked to social security schemes between July and September 2026. Of these, the formalities for 708 elderly persons were completed in the month of September alone. Starting from the first week of November 2026, all these beneficiaries will receive an old-age pension of โน1,500 per month directly into their bank accounts from the Social Welfare Department. If both husband and wife are eligible, the family will receive a total of โน3,000 per month.
District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan stated that financial security in old age is not a favor but a right of eligible elderly citizens. He instructed officials to ensure that no eligible person is deprived due to a lack of information or documentary complexities and that no application remains pending unnecessarily. Eligible beneficiaries can apply online via the departmental portal, either personally or through Common Service Centers (CSCs).
