Dr. Geeta Khanna, Chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, stated that society must recognize its collective responsibility in addressing the challenges children face in the digital age. Creating a safe and sensitive environment for children is the obligation of society as a whole, not just of families or institutions.
She expressed concern that social changes have led to a decline in the kind of community oversight that once existed. Dr. Khanna emphasized that the goal of education should not merely be career building but also the development of emotional resilience, life skills, and sensitivity in children.
To protect children from the dangers of the digital world, she advocated for continuous dialogue and trustworthy guidance rather than simply imposing restrictions. Representatives from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the administration, and non-governmental organizations participated in the event, and a call was made for all stakeholders to work unitedly towards child protection
