While reviewing programs aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality rates and eradicating TB, District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan directed officials to formulate a result-oriented action plan. During a review of the 12 maternal death cases recorded in 2026, he suspended the concerned ANM on the spot after discovering evidence tampering and inconsistencies regarding the death of Rukhsana, a resident of Premnagar.
The DM instructed officials to identify high-risk areas through GIS mapping of data from the past five years and to constitute a special task force.
It was reported during the meeting that Dehradun’s maternal mortality ratio (31.0) and infant mortality rate (13.8) are significantly better than the state and national averages.
