Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, inaugurated the first state-level mapping program for children affected by autism and specific learning disabilities at the ITI Doon Sanskriti School in Jhajhra. Speaking on the occasion, he remarked that disability does not diminish a person’s talent, a fact proven by the medals won by para-athletes.
Key Highlights:
• Budget and Support: A provision of approximately ₹950 crore has been made for the education, skill development, and inclusion of the country’s more than 2.68 crore differently-abled individuals. He also assured assistance in securing grants for the institute from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
• Central Schemes (Uttarakhand): During a review meeting, he noted that the state has seen the opening of 40.91 lakh Jan Dhan accounts and the disbursement of 36.87 lakh Mudra loans, 5.05 lakh Ujjwala connections, and 43,000 PM Awas (Urban) houses.
