The RTO Enforcement wing launched a major drive, adopting a strict stance against motorists driving on the wrong side of the road in the city. During this special inspection, challans were issued to 40 vehicles for violating rules, and 21 vehicles were seized.
According to RTO (Enforcement) Dr. Anita Chamola, four teams—comprising interceptors, a task force, and a bike squad—carried out this operation during peak hours in the ISBT, Asharodi, Mobbewala, Mandi, and Transport Nagar areas. The campaign specifically targeted two-wheelers driving on the wrong side.
Dr. Chamola stated that recommendations have also been made to suspend the driving licenses of motorists who disregarded traffic rules by driving in the opposite direction. To curb road accidents and ensure safety, special weekly inspection drives will continue on such vulnerable routes.
