Several key proposals were approved during the Uttarakhand Cabinet meeting. The major decisions are as follows:
• Health and Education: The monthly stipend for MBBS interns at government medical colleges was raised from ₹17,000 to a minimum of ₹25,000.
• Employment for Sportspersons: Approval was granted for the appointment of medal-winning athletes to 243 posts across six departments under the ‘out-of-turn’ employment scheme. Additionally, 33 new posts for Upper Assistant Teachers (Physical Education) were created in secondary education.
• Advocates and Prisons: An increase in the fees for government advocates across various courts was approved. An amendment to the rules was passed to incorporate a newly created post of Additional Inspector General within the prison administration.
• Development and Infrastructure: Approval was granted to lease 972 square meters of alternative land to the Garhwal Sabha for the upper terminal of the Purukul-Mussoorie ropeway, and to allocate 15 acres of land for an ESI hospital in Haridwar.
• Ease of Doing Business: The licensing process was simplified through an amendment to the Legal Metrology Rules.
