At a ceremony held at Lok Bhawan in Dehradun on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) and School Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat honored 19 teachers with the ‘Shailesh Matiyani State Educational Award-2025’ for their outstanding contributions to the field of education. Additionally, Smt. Manjubala, a recipient of the National Teachers’ Award, was accorded special recognition.
• Role of Teachers: The Governor stated that teachers shape the character of the nation and foster the ability in children to think critically and make sound decisions.
• Literature in Libraries: Education Minister Dr. Rawat announced that books by the renowned storyteller Shailesh Matiyani would be stocked in school libraries to connect students with his literary works.
• Award Categories: This prestigious honor was conferred upon 12 teachers from the elementary education category, 6 from the secondary education category, and 1 from the teacher training institute category.
