The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Dehradun, organized a one-day media workshop titled ‘Varta’ in Rishikesh on Tuesday. The central theme of the event was “Commitment to Public Service: 12 Years of Trust, Development, and Public Welfare.” Rishikesh Mayor Shri Shambhu Paswan unveiled five special booklets based on this theme.
Key highlights of the workshop:
• Development and Public Welfare: Praising Central Government schemes such as Lakhpati Didi, PM SVANidhi, Ayushman, and Awas, Mayor Shri Shambhu Paswan stated that their benefits are reaching the last person in society. He described the All-Weather Road and the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail project as milestones for the state.
• Rail Project and Environment: Officials from Rail Vikas Nigam stated that the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail project is in its final phase. Chief Geologist Vijay Dangwal clarified that the project’s alignment was designed with the Himalayas’ geographical diversity and environmental considerations in mind. Water emerging from the tunnels is being harnessed for water conservation in the form of ‘Amrit Sarovar’ (water bodies).
• Economic Empowerment: Shri Rohit Badola, Head of Department (HoD) at Uttarakhand Gramin Bank, explained that self-employment is being promoted through schemes like PM SVANidhi and Mudra, thereby strengthening the financial standing of the common people.
PIB Media and Communication Officer Shri Anil Dutt Sharma stated that the workshop aimed to enhance coordination with regional journalists so that accurate information regarding government schemes could reach the general public.
