Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam and Election Commission of India Deputy Election Commissioner Sanjay Kumar reviewed the ‘Special Intensive Revision Campaign’ via video conferencing with all District Magistrates on Tuesday. The primary objective of the meeting was to accelerate the voter list revision process, form distribution, and digitization efforts.
Key Instructions and Action Plan:
• Joint Visits by BLOs and BLAs: The CEO issued clear instructions that for voters found absent at home, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) must be accompanied by the concerned Booth Level Agent (BLA). Mandatory visits to these voters’ homes must be conducted at least three times.
• Emphasis on Digitization: In districts where form distribution is nearly complete, priority will now be given to digital data entry (digitization). Instructions have been issued to deploy additional personnel as ‘helping hands’ in areas where progress is slow.
• Mandatory Field Reports: The Deputy Election Commissioner directed that it is mandatory for BLOs to record accurate ‘field reports’ on the enumeration forms to identify voters who are absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicates.
District Magistrates have been instructed to conduct booth-wise reviews and complete the work within the stipulated timeframe. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande, along with District Magistrates and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) from all districts, attended the meeting.
