Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that Uttarakhand is set to become a global hub for Indian knowledge, science, and culture. The Madan Mohan Malaviya Research Institute in Rishikul, Haridwar, will be transformed into a world-class institution. He issued directives to ensure that the work on the institute is completed prior to the commencement of the Kumbh Mela.
During a high-level meeting held at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister reviewed plans for the comprehensive development and expansion of the Madan Mohan Malaviya Oriental Research Institute in Rishikul, Haridwar. He issued instructions to develop the institute into a global center for Indian knowledge traditions, ancient sciences, culture, and modern research. The CM remarked that Uttarakhand is not merely a land of faith and spirituality, but has historically been a land of sages, wisdom, and scientific inquiry. Providing a new identity to this institute in Haridwar remains a top priority for the state government.
He directed officials to initiate work on the Madan Mohan Malaviya Oriental Research Institute without delay. The Tourism Department has been designated as the nodal agency for this project. Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu was instructed to hold meetings with the concerned departmental secretaries every 15 days to monitor the regular progress of the institute’s development. Plans were outlined to establish a modern framework within the institute for research and study focused on Vedic mathematics, the science embedded in the Vedas, the philosophy of the Upanishads, Indian logic, environmental science, and human values. Furthermore, it was emphasized that the contributions of great scholars such as Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, and Varahamihira should be integrated into the institute’s research and educational curriculum. The meeting also included discussions regarding the establishment of specialized study centers within the institute dedicated to subjects such as astronomy, metallurgy, agricultural science, and environmental conservation
