Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the Prime Minister, who is visiting Uttarakhand on April 14 to inaugurate the Dehradun-Delhi Economic Corridor (Dehradun-Delhi Expressway), will be welcomed with the resounding sounds of conch shells (*Shankhnad*) and temple bells (*Ghantnad*). He will offer prayers at the Dat Kali Temple and will also participate in a roadshow while en route to the venue at Garhi Cantt. Preparations are currently underway to celebrate this event with the fervor of a grand festival.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister held a high-level meeting at his official residence to review the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit. He emphasized that the participation of every section of society must be ensured in this grand event so that it truly takes the form of a “people’s festival.” He issued directives to design the program’s framework in a manner that is both highly engaging and meticulously organized. He further stated that the event should grandly showcase glimpses of Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage—specifically the Garhwali, Kumaoni, and Jaunsari folk dances and music. He urged the public to step out of their homes, holding the national flag, to join the Prime Minister’s roadshow and to help create a festive atmosphere across the entire state.
The Chief Minister asserted that this project would prove to be a catalyst, steering Uttarakhand’s development in a new direction. This corridor is expected to significantly boost tourism, employment, and trade within the state. Furthermore, it will lead to a remarkable reduction in travel time between Delhi and Dehradun.
The corridor is also poised to bring about revolutionary changes in the sectors of logistics, transportation, and investment, thereby strengthening the state’s economy. The inauguration of this project will be recorded as a golden chapter in the history of the state’s development, further empowering the region and integrating it more firmly into the national mainstream of development. Those present at the meeting included Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobal, and Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari
