In view of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and the tourism season, the Food Department has geared up for the challenge. Anand Swarup, Secretary of Food and Civil Supplies, stated that a request would be submitted to the Central Government for an additional allocation of commercial LPG cylinders to ensure that supplies remain uninterrupted throughout the pilgrimage period.
The Secretary of Food and Civil Supplies held a meeting at the Secretariat with senior officials from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. During the meeting, a comprehensive review was conducted regarding the projected demand, storage capacity, supply chain, transportation arrangements, and distribution mechanisms for the Char Dham Yatra and the ensuing tourism season.
Secretary Anand Swarup noted that the Char Dham Yatra witnesses the arrival of hundreds of thousands of devotees and tourists in the state, leading to a significant surge in LPG consumption across various commercial establishments—including hotels, *dharamshalas* (pilgrim rest houses), *dhabas*, restaurants, and guest houses. Keeping this scenario in mind, the department is taking concrete measures. Oil Marketing Companies have been issued clear directives to ensure that the supply of LPG in the state remains smooth, balanced, and uninterrupted under all circumstances
