Life has been severely affected in Dehradun district due to dense fog. Flights at Dehradun airport have also been disrupted. Indigo flights from Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Jaipur, and an Air India flight from Mumbai, which were scheduled to arrive between 8 and 10 AM, did not reach the airport.
Dense fog has enveloped Dehradun airport and the surrounding areas since yesterday evening. Normal life has been severely disrupted since morning due to the thick fog. Vehicles were seen moving slowly on the roads with their headlights on. School students faced the most difficulty, having to go to school in the biting cold.
The reduced visibility due to the fog also affected morning flights. Several flights were affected in the morning. In addition, two flights arriving from Jaipur and Mumbai were diverted yesterday evening. Dense fog still persists in the area.
Snowfall expected on December 30-31
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the hilly areas on December 30-31 and January 1-2. A yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in Dehradun and six other districts on December 29.
According to the forecast, dense fog may prevail in some parts of Dehradun, Pauri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, and Nainital districts on Monday.
