Patna: Singer and BJP candidate Maithili Thakur is leading in the Alinagar seat of Darbhanga district in Bihar. After 19 rounds of counting, she is ahead by 9,769 votes. She has received 67,429 votes. RJD’s Vinod Mishra is in second place in the Alinagar seat. He has received 57,660 votes after 19 rounds of counting. After 19 rounds of counting, Maithili Thakur received 49.09 percent of the votes, while Vinod Mishra received 41.98 percent.
25-year-old Maithili Thakur is contesting elections for the first time. Reacting to the trends, Maithili Thakur expressed her gratitude to the people of Alinagar. The BJP candidate said, “People have placed their faith in me. I am moving forward. This victory is not mine, but the victory of all those who believed in me.” Folk singer Maithili Thakur further said that people have great expectations from her. If trends remain consistent, this will be her first term as an MLA. She said, “I will give my best to my constituency and serve the people like a daughter.”
In the 2020 assembly elections, BJP’s Mishri Lal Yadav won the Alinagar seat, defeating Vinod Mishra. However, this time, the BJP chose Maithili Thakur instead of giving him the ticket. In the 2015 assembly elections, RJD’s Abdul Bari Siddiqui won Alinagar, where Mishri Lal Yadav finished second.
NDA faces a landslide victory in Bihar elections: The Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 are almost clear. The NDA, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is heading for a landslide victory. Trends so far show the NDA leading in 199 seats, while the Grand Alliance is ahead in 38. The BJP alone is ahead in 91 seats, while the JDU is leading in 79 seats.
