Kurnool: A horrific accident took place in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh on Friday morning. According to information, a Cauvery Travels bus going from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire on National Highway 44 in Chinnatekur, a suburb of Kurnool. The accident was so terrible that the entire bus was reduced to ashes within minutes.
There were reportedly 43 people on the bus at the time of the accident. 19 people were reported to have been burnt alive when the bus caught fire. At the same time, 21 people suffered minor injuries. According to preliminary information, the bus coming from Hyderabad collided with a two-wheeler near Ulindkonda on the outskirts of Kurnool town, causing the bike to fall under the bus and hit the fuel tank, causing a fire and the entire bus was engulfed in flames. Passengers who were fast asleep panicked at the sight of the fire and some came out screaming, while many were caught in the fire.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and started rescue operations. The injured were taken to Kurnool General Hospital. The entire bus was destroyed by fire. It is learnt that most of the passengers were from Hyderabad city. Both the drivers fled after the incident. Fire brigade vehicles also reached the spot and extinguished the fire. The bus caught fire, causing a heavy traffic jam on the highway. Meanwhile, the video of the incident is going viral. There is an atmosphere of grief and anxiety in the entire state. Officials said the death toll would be confirmed only after testing and DNA reports.
