New Delhi: A fire broke out near Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. A fire broke out in a building near gate number 31 of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday afternoon, prompting officials to send five fire engines to the spot, a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said.
According to fire department officials, the fire was reported at 1:51 p.m. on the ground floor of the two-storey building. The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes, he said.

According to the Delhi Fire Service, the fire broke out in flat number 19 of Narmada apartment near gate number 31. Fire engines arrived at the scene and began extinguishing immediately, officials said the fire was brought under control at 2.15 p.m. In another incident on Saturday, a fire broke out in the staff quarter block of MPs’ flats at Brahmaputra Bhawan in New Delhi’s BD Marg. The terrible fire of the MP’s flat reached several floors. The fire broke out in the MP’s servant quarters built in the Brahmaputra apartment. Eyewitnesses said the fire started to spread to the CPWD office furniture on the ground floor and spread to the fourth floor of the apartment.
According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the incident took place in a silted area where some unused furniture items that were to be thrown were placed in a queue. At around 1:15 a.m., the fire was reportedly caused by children in the vicinity to light firecrackers. The fire was detected at 1:18 pm. Before the fire engines arrived, CPWD officials immediately cut off the building’s power supply and gas connections, ensuring that the complex was immediately evacuated as a precaution to avoid any casualties. The fire was completely extinguished by 1:45 pm.
