Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has achieved a major success in kidnapping an SDO and a junior engineer (JE) of the power department by posing as fake vigilance officers and taking a ransom of Rs seven lakh.
According to the information, the police have arrested two of the four accused who took the ransom. Although the two accused are still absconding, police have claimed that they will be arrested soon and the ransom money will also be recovered.
SDO and JE kidnapped for ransom
Giving full details about this, DSP Varinder Singh Khosa said that on October 13, these four accused had met the SDO and JE for information on taking electricity connection for their pipe factory. During this, these accused opened the whole thing in front of them and then started telling them that we have come from Vigilance and you are taking bribes together with your Axion.
After saying this, he forcibly put those two officials in his Innova vehicle and took them towards Ludhiana and started demanding twenty lakh rupees to settle the whole matter on the way.
Fake Vigilance Officer
DSP Varinder Singh Khosa said that the two officers collected seven lakh twenty thousand rupees from their homes and relatives out of fear and gave them and then they were released. After this, both of them again contacted the police and informed the entire incident. The police started searching for these four accused from the same day and two of the four accused were arrested today.
The DSP also said that both the arrested accused are residents of Patiala area and fake journalism cards were also found from them.
