Surat: Prabhakar Aligatin, the principal of a government school run by the Municipal Primary Education Committee in Godadra area of Surat in Gujarat, has been suspended. The action has been taken on charges of holding a meeting and non-veg party on the school premises without the knowledge or permission of the administration. Earlier, the education committee had issued a notice to the principal, calling the act very serious.
Chicken-Mutton serving controversy
A meeting was organized in the government school from 1987 to 1991 for the alumni of class 7. The event served chicken and mutton to these alumni from the Telugu community who came together after 38 years. It was organized by the school principal and he himself was present at the event.
A video of non-veg being served at the event has also surfaced. Not only this, the face of the idol of Goddess Saraswati in the school premises was covered with cloth and non-vegetarian food was served, making the matter more serious.
The principal accepted his mistake and defended
Suspended principal Prabhakar Aligten has defended himself in the controversy over the non-veg party held in the school. He said that a meeting of alumni, teachers and principals was held at the school. He admitted that the chicken was served at the event and it was his fault.
The speaker described this act as unfair and serious
Suraj Nagar Primary Education Committee president Rajendra Kapadia described the incident as extremely serious. He said that this act has been done by the school in the name of a meeting of alumni without any permission, which is completely inappropriate. In this serious case, a team from the Municipal Primary Education Committee will visit the school today to inspect the site and question the staff and other teachers.
School watchman Santoshbhai said he was not aware of the programme. People had come in the morning and non-veg was also eaten. Notably, the incident took place at school number 342 and 351 (Pandit Deendayal Primary School) in Godadra in Surat district.
