A three-day Workshop on Road Safety Management, sponsored by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, was organized on October 6, 7, and 8, 2025, in the auditorium of Police Headquarters, Uttarakhand, jointly with the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE), Faridabad, and the Uttarakhand Police. The objective of the workshop was to provide officials from various departments with updated information and practical training related to road safety management, accident analysis, and scientific investigation. Key topics of the workshop: • Road safety rules and regulations • Various provisions of the Central Motor Vehicles Act • Accident investigations and the use of forensic science • In-depth information on traffic management and scientific analysis of accidents A total of 33 participants, including 20 from the Police Department, 9 from the Transport Department, and 4 from road construction authorities (PWD/NHAI/MC), participated in the workshop. Mr. M.S. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Rohit Baluja, President, IRTE, Faridabad, under the guidance of Mr. Upadhyay, IPS (Retd.), Lead Faculty, IRTE. He was accompanied by expert IRTE trainers who delivered detailed lectures on various aspects of road safety management, interpretation of traffic laws, scientific investigation of accidents, and modern technical analysis. Mr. Deepam Seth, Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. In his address, he said, “Road safety is a major challenge today, and coordinated efforts between all relevant departments—police, transport, and road construction agencies—are essential. Such workshops not only enhance the technical proficiency of our officers but are also extremely useful in preventing and effectively investigating road accidents. I thank IRTE for their support in organizing this important training program.” Director General of Police, Uttarakhand also said that Uttarakhand Police is committed to promote road safety as a mass movement and such training programmes will be organised continuously in future also.
