A joint team of the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and the Municipal Corporation took strict action against encroachment in Dehradun today, demolishing encroachments made by businesses in Transport Nagar on Saharanpur Road. The MDDA sealed illegal constructions in the Dhouran Road IT Park, Rajpur Road, and Jamniwala areas. The authority and the Municipal Corporation had been receiving complaints of illegal encroachments and encroachments outside shops in the Transport Nagar area on Saharanpur Road for a long time. Local residents and drivers stated that the encroachments outside shops were not only obstructing traffic but also causing significant inconvenience to the public. Taking these complaints seriously, MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari issued strict instructions. Following his instructions, a team of the authority was formed under the leadership of MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya. This team, along with a joint team from the Dehradun Municipal Corporation, conducted the drive in Transport Nagar on Saharanpur Road on Friday. During the operation, illegal encroachments on approximately 15 to 20 shops were removed. The area was cleared by demolishing permanent structures and temporary encroachments built outside the shops. Bulldozers were used to demolish several illegal constructions. During the operation, local shopkeepers protested and attempted to stop the administrative team several times. However, for security reasons, a large police force was deployed on the scene. Due to the police presence, the demolition drive was completed without any major disruptions.
