Under the “Swasth Naari, Sashakt Parivar” campaign, people are coming forward to adopt TB patients at health camps being organized at medical facilities across the state. Furthermore, various organizations have also expressed interest in becoming Nikshay Mitra. So far, 4,276 individuals and organizations have registered for Nikshay Mitra under this campaign.
According to health department officials, while a large number of people are getting their health-related problems checked at health camps organized across the state, people are also coming forward to support TB patients. Furthermore, several organizations have also expressed interest in playing the role of Nikshay Mitra. Under the campaign, 4,276 individuals and organizations have registered for Nikshay Mitra, including 474 people in Almora district who have registered online for Nikshay Mitra. Similarly, 137 people registered to become Nikshay Mitras in Bageshwar, 49 in Chamoli, 308 in Champawat, 738 in Dehradun, 548 in Haridwar, 312 in Nainital, 423 in Pauri, 235 in Pithoragarh, 130 in Rudraprayag, 262 in Tehri, 610 in Udham Singh Nagar, and 50 in Uttarkashi.
Department officials stated that Nikshay Mitras are playing a crucial role in eliminating TB in the state. Nikshay Mitras will provide monthly nutritious meals and emotional support to TB patients during their treatment. Staying in touch with Nikshay Mitras will also give patients the strength to know they are not alone in this fight.
