Jammers were installed at all 445 centers for the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level examination, but they failed to block them. This is being considered a major technical flaw. The jammers were meant to block 4G networks. Experts say they cannot block 5G networks. The commission had made elaborate arrangements to prevent the graduate-level examination paper from being leaked. A company under the central government installed the jammers. Previously, the commission only installed them at sensitive centers, but this time, jammers were installed at all 445 centers. When ย investigated, it was found that all these jammers were capable of blocking even 4G networks. Experts, who spoke with the commission, said that such jammers are ineffective in blocking 5G networks. 5G networks are operational in most cities in the state. These jammers were installed by the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL). 4G jammers cannot jam 5G networks. 4G networks typically operate in the 700 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2300 MHz bands. 5G networks operate in much higher frequency bands (such as 3300 MHz, 3500 MHz, and mmWave: up to 24 GHz). Jammers only jam a specific frequency range. Therefore, they cannot jam 5G networks. The jammer was not working where the paper came out. Commission Secretary Dr. Shiv Kumar Baranwal said that his supervisor had verbally complained about the jammer not working in Room 22 of the examination center. When his report came in on Monday, it revealed that the jammer was not working in Room 9. He stated that the matter is being investigated. It is certain that the jammer was not working in the room where the paper came out. The Commission has sent a letter to ECIL in this regard. We previously sent a letter to the Central Government, in response to which the Cabinet Secretary directed ECIL to install updated 4G and 5G jammers. Most of our examination centers have 4G jammers, while a few have 5G jammers. The jammer was not working where the exam paper was released. This is being investigated
