Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the revision in GST rates will strengthen the state’s economy and provide significant relief to people from all walks of life. The new GST rates will be implemented across the country, including Uttarakhand, from September 22nd. On Sunday, the Chief Minister interacted virtually with ministers, MLAs, and public representatives. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the historic decision to amend the GST in the interest of the common people.
A massive public awareness campaign will be launched in the state to ensure that the benefits of the new rates reach the general public and the business community immediately. He called upon all public representatives to conduct awareness programs in their areas from September 22nd to 29th. During this period, ministers in charge will lead the campaign in their districts, and MLAs in their respective constituencies.
The Chief Minister stated that the revised GST rates will strengthen the state’s economy and accelerate the state’s progress towards Vocal for Local, Local to Global. Uttarakhand’s umbrella brand, House of Himalayas, and 27 GI-tagged products, the One District Two Product Scheme, and local handicrafts and agricultural products will receive a boost from the new GST rates. This will increase self-employment opportunities and help realize the vision of a self-reliant Uttarakhand.
Small entrepreneurs can also connect with the national and global markets.
The Chief Minister directed the Industry Department to strengthen GI-tagged products and the One District, Two Products scheme, making it more market-oriented. The implementation of the new GST rates will promote ease of doing business. Both consumers and producers will benefit. In the meeting, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal provided information about the benefits of the new GST rates to the general public and businesses.
