New Delhi: New rules are being issued by Indian Railways from October 1. With its implementation, brokers in train tickets will be curbed to a great extent. In this, from October 1, such non-Tatkal i.e. general passengers whose Aadhaar will be verified will be given priority in booking tickets in the first 15 minutes of opening of railway ticket booking.
The Railway Board has issued an order in this regard on Monday. The Railway Board says that although earlier this facility was given to those who book Tatkal tickets. But, now this facility is being started to be given to common people also who book non-Tatkal tickets.
Aadhaar verification will be necessary
According to the Railways, for this, passengers who make general booking of train tickets need to be verified by the Aadhaar system. At the same time, after Aadhaar verification, such passengers will get priority to book tickets for the first 15 minutes. The special thing is that during this time ticket agents will also not be able to book tickets. Not only this, such people will be able to book reserved general tickets through IRCTC website or app.
What is in the order?
In the order issued by the Railway Board, it has been said that such a decision has been taken so that the benefits of the reservation system can reach the common user easily and ticket brokers cannot misuse it. In this, from October 1, 2025, during the first 15 minutes of opening of general reservation, only Aadhaar-authenticated users will be able to book reserved general tickets through the website / app of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). At the same time, no change has been made in the time of booking general reserved tickets through computerized PRS counters of Indian Railways.
However, this new rule has come at a time when the Railways has made Aadhaar card mandatory for Tatkal tickets from July 1 itself. Not only this, from July 1, 2025, it has become necessary to provide Aadhaar card to book Tatkal tickets. This rule will be applicable on IRCTC website and app.
