New Delhi/Kiev: Amid the ongoing war with Russia, Ukraine will now ban diesel coming from India. This ban will come into effect from October 1. This information was given by Ukraine’s energy consultancy Encore on Monday. Encore says that India buys a lot of crude oil from Russia. Because of this Ukraine has to take this step.
According to the report of news agency Reuters, Encore says that India buys a lot of crude oil from Russia, because of which Ukraine has to take this step.
Encore said that Russia is continuously targeting Ukrainian oil refineries with drones and missiles. Encore says that Ukraine’s security agencies have ordered that every consignment of diesel coming from India will be checked. This test will be done in the lab so that it can be ascertained whether Russian oil is mixed in it or not.
Ukraine bought 119000 tonnes of diesel from India in August
Encore said that Ukraine bought 119,000 tonnes of diesel from India in August. This was 18 percent of Ukraine’s total diesel imports. Another consultancy A-95 said earlier this month that a major oil refinery in Ukraine had broken down in the summer months of this year, due to which traders had to compensate by buying diesel from India. Also, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry also bought some diesel from India, as it meets the old Soviet standards.
Why is India buying Russian oil?
Russia is giving cheap crude oil to India. On the other hand, Ukraine is targeting Russian oil refineries with drone attacks. Russia wants to sell its oil at a cheaper price. India has turned this crisis of Russia into an opportunity. There is a huge difference in the oil prices of Russia and the Middle East. For this reason, Indian oil refinery companies are taking interest in buying Russian oil. US President Donald Trump has imposed 50 percent tariff on India for purchasing Russian oil.
