The investigation of the embezzlement of more than three crore rupees in the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana has been handed over to the SIT. Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has given approval for this. In the case, six District Education Officer Basic and some other officers are under investigation.
According to the Education Minister, the negligence of the then officials also came to the fore in this. The investigation found that government money worth three crore 18 lakh rupees has been embezzled in the PM Nutrition Cell in Dehradun under the School Education Department.
A detailed report of the investigation chaired by the Additional Director of Education Garhwal Division has been submitted to the government. A high-level investigation has been recommended to get to the bottom of the matter and take action against the culprits. The investigation of the case has been handed over to the SIT, so that strict action can be taken against the accused of the scam. Along with this, action will also be taken against those officers who have been negligent in discharging government responsibilities.
Six DEO Basic and some other officers under investigation
More than three crore 18 lakhs were embezzled in the education department from the year 2023-24 to 2025-2026. In the departmental investigation, the Upanal employee working in the office of DEO Basic Dehradun has been found directly guilty. At the same time, six District Education Officers Basic including Finance and Accounts Officer are also under investigation in the case. Preparations are underway to take action against all of them under the Uttarakhand Government Servant (Discipline and Appeal) Act. It is alleged that these officers allowed online illegal transfer of funds from PM Poshan accounts to various accounts without any investigation. The Education Minister said, to prevent such incidents in future, instructions have been given to entrust financial and other confidential work only to responsible and competent permanent personnel.
