Amidst the disaster relief operations in the state, the police has come into action mode against those spreading rumors related to the change of Chief Minister. The police has now started tightening the noose on the elements misleading the public by spreading misleading and false information on social media.
It is believed that the state is battling huge disasters. In such a situation, false news like change of Chief Minister not only creates hindrance in relief and rescue operations but also affects government work and administrative system.
It has become clear in the investigation that posts related to change of Chief Minister were circulated from Facebook pages I Love My Uttarakhand Sanskriti, Uttarakhand Wale and Janta Jan Andolan Irritated. On this basis, strict legal action is being taken by registering a case against the three page operators. The police has appealed to the general public to avoid spreading any kind of unconfirmed or misleading information on social media. Social media callers have also been clearly warned that strict legal action will also be taken against them for spreading rumors or making misleading posts. The state police is continuously monitoring social media
