There is a possibility of heavy rain in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand today as well. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in some parts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat and Nainital districts including Dehradun.
Apart from this, there are chances of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in other districts as well. Talking about the coming days, light to moderate rain is expected in the state till August 13.
243 routes opened in the state, 116 roads still closed
Other departments including the Public Works Department are engaged in opening the roads closed due to rain and landslides in the state. On Thursday, 243 routes were opened, but 116 routes are still closed, which are being tried to be opened. Among the closed roads, there is one national highway, 11 state roads, nine main district roads, two other district roads in Pauri district. Apart from this, 93 rural roads are also closed.
Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj said that due to heavy rains, landslides have occurred in many places in the state and roads have been damaged and blocked. Officers and employees of Public Works Department, National Highway, BRO, PMGSY are engaged in opening these roads with the help of various machines day and night. 359 roads were closed in the state, out of which 243 have been successfully opened. Efforts are being made to open the other roads which are closed.
